  • I don't know that the example of "I know it when I see it," applies. It was about about applying community standards in the judgement of pornography, if I recall. Those things always bring me to the "Piss Christ" exhibit. Would you advocate, or call for the protection of a "Piss Koran" exhibit?

  • Because the "moral and ethical" interpretations are subjective. We know the moral interpretations of Islam, as to blasphemy, and the punishments. We know that other interpretations are not enough, and that's why the Islamic countries want it clarified.

  • Of course religions have rights. In the US, that is pretty obvious.Supreme court rulings to that effect. In the context of the UN, there is no pretense of individual rights in the demands of a group aligned, obviously, by religion, pushing a plan to protect that religion from criticism.

  • I think that's a good idea, actually. However, an "event" is not necessarily turning a base into a political platform. Disallowing political speech by a politician or a speaker who has been invited or allowed, IS turning the base into a a poltical platform.

  • The army can disallow visitors, I guess. But censoring ordinary political speech of a visitor is another sign of things the Army doesn't get. As long as they stay confused on their side of the fence.

  • The CIA wasn't waterboarding ordinary captured fighters. Blaise, why were you "interrogating,?" What were you trying to learn, and what methods were used? How much time did it take to learn what was learned?
